From a 20 year old who has read Mills and boons, Fifty shades and Francine Rivers books, this is my 2 cents on the matter. I think fifty shades of grey and mills and boons are porn, it messed up my expectations and skewed my view on love and what my role is. (Like it’s okay to play saviour to a broken abused man- fifty shades) I do not however thinks women should stop reading francine rivers for instance because the man in the book that I’ve read (redeeming love) and his role and character from what I can remember is quite closely aligned to my view on who God is (someone who pursues us, and is patient with us, among the many others), and I see myself with a man that reminds me of God. To sum it up, M&Bs and 50 shades made me compromise and redeeming love showed me I deserve more. One more thing, I think Books are GREAT. (This is not to say I have the skewed perception that men are saviours and women should just chill, I believe we should play our Godly role in as much as the man is expected to play his.)
